F-35 Lightning II: The Stealth Fighter Built to Penetrate Advanced Air Defenses
The F-35 Lightning II revolutionised modern air combat, integrating the stealth required to get deep behind enemy lines, to use advanced onboard systems for situational awareness and to distribute data across a battlefield via networks.
The fighter developed by Lockheed Martin, regarded as the most advanced aircraft in the world, is capable of performing a range of missions in extremely difficult environments.

Unlike previous aircraft which concentrated on speed or manouevrability to stay in the fight, the F-35 seeks to remain invisible while feeding information to the crew via an unparallelled fusion of the F-35's AESA radar, EOTS electro-optical sensor suite, DAS DAS and EW systems.

This information can be shared with nearby air and surface platforms, improving tactical situational awareness.
It's an aircraft which comes with internally housed weapon stores which can carry weapons for air-to-air and air-to-ground combat, but which are completely enclosed to minimize the profile and further increase the F-35's ability to stay stealthy.

Even as Air Defence systems continue to become more complex, new versions of the F-35 will continue to evolve through software updates, a greater EWS presence and improved missile capability, moving it into the realm of the fifth generation's capabilities which blend the concept of low observable technology with powerful computing, networking and an unparalleled sensor suite to deliver enhanced situational awareness and survivability, making it the lynchpin of future Air Forces.
