Police established a 400-meter cordon around the area, while bomb-disposal specialists examined the vehicles. Residents from about 85 nearby homes were also advised to evacuate.

### Base Used by U.S. Bombers

RAF Fairford hosts the U.S. Air Force's 501st Combat Support Wing and has been used as a staging location for U.S. bomber operations. British authorities have previously authorized U.S. aircraft based there to conduct operations against Iranian missile sites.

### Possible Foreign-State Connection Under Investigation

British counterterrorism authorities are examining multiple possible explanations for the incident, including whether individuals may have been acting on behalf of a foreign state.

UK Defence Minister Wes Streeting has cautioned against speculation about the motive while the investigation continues. Iran has denied involvement in the incident.

### Suspects Released on Bail

As of September 28, British police said the five suspects had been released on bail following extensive questioning. They have **not been charged** and remain under investigation as authorities pursue multiple lines of inquiry.
