MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted aircraft that serves as one of the globe’s most powerful assets, offering unmatched capability to support long-endurance surveillance, real-time collection of intelligence, and lethal precision strike.

Starting as the RQ-1 Predator reconnaissance drone, its modification to the MQ-9 Reaper and integration with guided weapons greatly expanded its capabilities beyond basic intelligence gathering, making it a formidable combat drone.

An MQ-9 Reaper undergoes final pre-flight checks before a mission, ensuring its systems and sensors are fully operational for intelligence and combat operations.

A trained crew of remotely operated aircraft pilots and sensor operators guide each MQ-9 Reaper from a ground-control station to avoid the risk of aircrews being placed in harm’s way during missions.

The sensor suite - comprised of sophisticated electro-optical and infrared cameras, synthetic aperture radar, and secure communications systems - allows military services to identify, locate, and monitor targets at extended range while sending live data to mission planners.

An MQ-9 Reaper flies during an operational mission, providing persistent surveillance and precision strike support.

For more lethal tasks, the MQ-9 Reaper can strike from long-endurance using weapons including laser-guided missiles (such as the AGM-114 Hellfire missile) and laser-guided bombs. The drone can remain airborne for over 24 hours, allowing constant surveillance of expansive terrain and thus facilitating ISR and combat operations.

MQ-9 Reaper fires an AGM-114 Hellfire missile during a precision strike mission.

AGM-114 Hellfire Missile -MQ-9 Reaper is seen unleashing its lethal payload as it pursues a target on a precision strike mission against an armed enemy compound. The targeting systems for the AGM-114 Hellfire can incorporate electro-optical sensors, lasers for guidance, intelligence for better accuracy, and the ability to track even the most high-value targets without risking collateral damage.

Rigorous pre-mission ground inspections are performed by maintenance personnel on MQ-9 Reapers on engine, controls, communication equipment, cameras, and other mission systems before the execution of each mission.
